During the Pixel 7 launch event, Google promised that buyers would eventually gain free mobile access to the Google One VPN. This perk is finally available to Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro owners—you can set up Google’s VPN with just a few quick steps.

Note: This perk may take a few days to arrive on your Pixel 7 smartphone.

The Google One VPN usually requires a 2TB cloud storage subscription. We’re happy that Google is including the VPN as a Pixel 7 perk, as it’s a solid and simple option for increasing online privacy. (That said, this VPN isn’t very robust. You can’t use it to get around region locks, for instance.)

Here’s how you enable Google One VPN on your Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro:

  1. Install and open the Google One app.
  2. Tap the “Benefits” tab at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Scroll down and find the card labeled “VPN Protection for Multiple Devices.”
  4. Select “View Details.”
  5. Tap “Use VPN.”
