
It’s common for new smartphones to arrive with a few early problems, but Google’s Pixel line always has the “Pixel curse.” We’ve already seen several minor issues on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, but now multiple reports confirm that the first Google Play system update failed to install.
To be more specific, a new Google Play System update is rolling out to Pixel 7 owners, and after receiving the prompt, owners cannot install the latest release.
Google’s new Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are running an old and outdated version released on July 1, 2022, which isn’t ideal. It’s so old that the built-in security hub is warning owners to check for updates. According to 9to5Google, the latest version is out now, but you won’t be able to install the file.
Since being released last week, we’ve seen several small complaints from Pixel 7 owners. From excessive battery drain, especially outdoors, laggy scrolling, poor performance, and now it looks like owners cannot update a critical piece of software over 90 days old.
